EFFIC-OSS: an innovative model to drive energy renovation in Spain

The energy renovation of the residential building stock represents one of the key challenges in advancing towards a more efficient and sustainable energy model. In this context, EFFIC-OSS Life emerges as a project led by EFFIC aimed at facilitating and accelerating the energy refurbishment of buildings through a comprehensive One-Stop-Shop (OSS) model.

The project, whose launch was marked by a kick-off meeting held at EFFIC’s Madrid offices, was created with the ambition of transforming the way homeowners and residential communities access energy renovation processes. That meeting enabled the presentation of the initiative’s objectives, the coordination of the participating teams, and the definition of the workstreams that will guide the project’s development over the coming years.

EFFIC-OSS addresses an increasingly evident need: a significant share of Spain’s residential building stock has low energy efficiency levels and, although public subsidies and financing mechanisms exist, administrative complexity and a lack of support make it difficult to implement such measures.

To respond to this challenge, EFFIC-OSS offers an integrated service that centralises all stages of the renovation process under a single point of contact. From initial energy assessment and grant management to financing, works execution, and performance monitoring, the model simplifies procedures and improves the user experience.

Over a three-year period, the project will focus on scaling this model nationally through the development of digital tools, the integration of artificial intelligence-based solutions, and the implementation of pilot projects in different regions. These actions will help validate a replicable, efficient, and economically sustainable model.

Aligned with the objectives of the European Green Deal, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), and Spain’s Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP), EFFIC-OSS aims to become a benchmark in the transformation of the energy renovation sector, removing barriers for citizens and contributing to the decarbonisation of Spain’s residential building stock.
